Biography

Dr. Keyvan Hastrudi-Zaad

Keyvan Hashtrudi-Zaad received Ph.D. degree in electrical and computer engineering from the University of British Columbia (UBC), Vancouver, Canada, in 2000. He held a consulting position with Motion Metrics International Corp., Vancouver on the development of a dynamic payload monitoring system for heavy-duty hydraulic machines. He then joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of Queen's University in 2001, where he is now a Professor and the Co-director of BioRobotics Research Laboratory. Dr. Hashtrudi-Zaad's research interests include control systems design for telerobots and haptic interfaces, biomedical robotics, electric hybrid and autonomus vehicles, sand ystem dynamics identification and modeling. He is currently the Chair of the EMB/RA/CS Societies Joint Chapter of IEEE Kingston Section. Dr. Hashtrudi-Zaad has served as the Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Haptics and as a co-organizer of various IEEE-sponsored conferences. He has served as the Technical Program Chair of the Robotics and Control Symposium of IEEE CCECE, the Invited Session Chair of IEEE Conference on Control Applications (CCA), and the Tutorial and Workshop Chair of the IEEE International Conference on Mechatronics and Automation (ICMA). He is a Senior Member of IEEE and a Registered Professional Engineer in Ontario, Canada
